55% Have Filed Their Taxes, 43% Expect Refund
With less than three weeks to go until tax day, over half of Americans have filed their income taxes, and nearly as many expect to get a refund.
A new Rasmussen Reports telephone survey finds that 55% of American adults have already filed their income taxes. That's up just slightly from two weeks ago when 51% had already filed but nearly double the number from a month ago. Forty percent (40%) still have not filed. Adults are waiting longer to file their taxes this year than last. At this time a year ago, 62% had already filed their income taxes.

The survey of 1,000 Adults nationwide was conducted on March 27-28, 2011 by Rasmussen Reports. The margin of sampling error is +/- 3 percentage points with a 95% level of confidence. Field work for all Rasmussen Reports surveys is conducted by Pulse Opinion Research, LLC. See methodology.
