45% Have Not Filed Income Taxes Yet
With a month to go until tax day, roughly half of Americans have filed their income taxes.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that 51% of adults have filed their income taxes, while 45% have not. (To see survey question wording, click here.)
Roughly three weeks ago, 29% had already filed, but 66% had not.
Taxpayers appear to be on track compared to previous years. In late March 2010, 62% said they had filed their income taxes. Around the same time in 2009, 56% had filed. In early March 2008, 43% had filed.
Eighty percent (80%) of those who haven’t filed yet plan to do so by April 15. Only six percent (6%) plan on getting an extension, but 13% remain undecided.
