What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls - Week Ending September 3, 2022

In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:

- President Biden ended the polling week with a daily job approval of 44%.

- Worries about the American economy have eased somewhat in recent months, but the issue remains a top concern for most voters.

- The federal government is spending billions of dollars to promote electric vehicles, but most Americans still don’t consider them practical.

- America’s illegal immigration problem is getting worse, most voters still believe, and President Joe Biden’s handling of the issue remains unpopular.

- As students return to the classroom this fall, more than four times as many Americans rate public schools poor as rate them excellent.

- The 2022 midterm elections are now 67 days away, and Republicans still have a five-point lead in their bid to recapture control of Congress.

- Americans are worried about the danger of school shootings, and support has increased for arming teachers to defend their classrooms.

- The president earned a monthly job approval of 44% in August, up three points from July.

- Problems like inflation, crime and drug overdoses make national headlines, but most Americans still have a positive view of their own lives.

- Twenty-nine percent (29%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
