What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls - Week Ending August 20, 2022
In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:
- President Biden ended the polling week with a daily job approval of 44%.
- Last week’s raid by the Federal Bureau of Investigation on former President Donald Trump’s home has damaged the FBI’s standing with Republican and independent voters.
- A majority of Americans believe more needs to be done to stop professional athletes from engaging in sexual misconduct.
- More voters still have a negative perception of Attorney General Merrick Garland than view him favorably, and don’t think he’s doing a better job than his predecessors.
- Even though a majority of voters have an unfavorable opinion of House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, the California Democrat has gained popularity in recent months.
- The 2022 midterm elections are now 81 days away, and Republicans have a five-point lead in their bid to recapture control of Congress.
- More than a decade after Barack Obama emphasized the need for “world class education,” most Americans think U.S. schools are failing to deliver.
- Barely a third of Americans think lawyers are trustworthy, and the legal profession’s reputation hasn’t improved much in recent years.
- Thirty-two percent (32%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
