What They Told Us: Reviewing Last Week’s Key Polls - Week Ending April 2, 2022
In surveys last week, this is what America told Rasmussen Reports:
- President Biden ended the polling week with a daily job approval of 42%.
- When President Joe Biden declared last week that Russian President Vladimir Putin could not remain in power, the White House scrambled to "walk back" that comment. It turns out, however, American voters overwhelmingly agree with the president's ad-libbed sentiment.
- A majority of voters are troubled by some of Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson’s responses during last week’s confirmation hearings, but most Democrats think President Joe Biden’s nominee to the Supreme Court was disrespected by Republican senators on the Judiciary Committee.
- At a time when President Joe Biden is reportedly considering new taxes on the rich, more Americans than ever think they already pay more than their fair share of taxes.
- A plurality of voters believe the United States isn’t doing enough to help Ukraine defeat the Russian invaders, even while a majority agree with a warning that President Joe Biden’s administration may be trying to do too much.
- When Oscar-winning actor Will Smith slapped host Chris Rock at the 94th Academy Awards ceremony Sunday, more than a third of Americans thought Smith did the right thing.
- The president earned a monthly job approval of 41% in March, down one point from February. Fifty-seven percent (57%) disapproved of his job performance in March, unchanged from February.
- Fewer Americans think there are too many lawyers in the country, but a majority still think frivolous lawsuits are adding to the costs of health care and other goods and services.
- As the April 15 federal income tax deadline approaches, more than half of Americans have already filed with the Internal Revenue Service.
- Thirty-two percent (32%) of Likely U.S. Voters think the country is heading in the right direction.
